Overview
We are looking for an experienced bare metal infrastructure engineer to help build and operate OneQode's large-scale AI/GPU infrastructure across multiple data centres. As we expand capacity, we need an engineer who can automate and operate physical infrastructure at scale, not a data centre technician or hardware designer. This is a senior, hands-on role, fully remote and based in APAC.
You will focus on physical server infrastructure, hardware lifecycle and low-level automation, taking servers from delivery to production and keeping them healthy. You will turn product requirements into infrastructure solutions that roll out the same way at every site, working closely with our product team and our Senior Fleet Infrastructure Engineer.
Responsibilities
- Automate hardware commissioning end to end, including discovery, firmware baselining, validation and burn-in.
- Own firmware, BIOS and BMC management across a mixed fleet of CPU and GPU servers.
- Build and run low-level provisioning, including PXE boot and OS deployment, at scale.
- Build hardware diagnostics, observability and automated fault investigation and triage, laying the foundation for self-healing recovery.
- Turn product requirements into infrastructure solutions, then package them and roll them out across data centres.
- Work with the Fleet Infrastructure Engineer on a clean handoff from hardware to orchestration.
- Drive improvements in our infrastructure engineering standards and practices.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- 5+ years in infrastructure engineering, deploying or operating hundreds to thousands of bare metal servers.
- Deep understanding of server hardware, Linux, BMC/IPMI, Redfish, PXE, firmware and hardware diagnostics.
- Experience with bare metal provisioning, hardware validation, burn-in, observability and fault investigation.
- Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Go, Ansible, etc.).
- Ideally, experience deploying large-scale AI/GPU clusters, though strong candidates from large CPU fleets are welcome.
- A background at a neocloud, hyperscaler, HPC operator or large-scale bare metal provider.
- Hands-on. You build and operate systems yourself, rather than only designing or managing them.
- Automation-first. You would rather solve a problem once in code than fix it by hand every time.
We do not expect every candidate to have experience in all of these areas. If you have strong bare metal fundamentals, good judgement and the right mindset, we would still like to hear from you.
